Fort Lewis College Cycling: It's like a family
More than 100 riders strong, FLC Cycling is a unique hybrid program, blending the fun of a club with the full-time professional coaching and equipment of a varsity sport. And all it takes to join is a helmet and a hunger to ride.
The focus, though, is still on fun and team spirit. Collegiate cycling is a good time with great people. Some racers on the Cycling team have been riding their entire lives, while others didn’t start until they got to FLC. All riders receive expert coaching from our professional coaching staff. And for specialty niche events, other coaches step in from Durango’s ranks of pro cyclists.
Durango is bike crazy, so you’ll fit right in. Durango’s cycling tradition dates back to 1895 and the founding of the still-active Durango Wheel Club. Today it is home to some of the greatest collegiate, professional, and Olympic riders in the history of road and off-road cycling. Frequent group rides with the team and local cyclists give club members the chance to train for upcoming events, explore the beauty of the area, and build friendships.
