In May 2019, Reed Honors was invited to join a course with Longwood University (Farmville, VA) that takes place predominantly in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. The course is titled Resource Management in GYE and focuses on the 1995 reintroduction of wolves into Yellowstone Park and explores the implications of that reintroduction and the effects it had on GYE’s multiple stakeholders. Students spent nearly two weeks in GYE, meeting with various stakeholders (wildlife tour guides, ranchers, Bureau of Land Management, Fish and Wildlife, Park Rangers, a wildlife photographer, gateway citizens), exploring the region, and considering ways to navigate a controversial issue with multiple perspectives.

Unfortunately, the May 2020 version of this class has been cancelled, but we look forward to partnering with Longwood again in 2021.
