Bob Krantz is an affiliate faculty member of the Geosciences department at Fort Lewis College. He joined the department officially in 2019, after providing guest lectures and other support starting in 2017. Dr. Krantz spent most of his career in the petroleum industry, mostly in research and technical specialist assignments, but also as an exploration and production geologist. Working for ARCO, Phillips, and ConocoPhillips, he applied his expertise in structural geology, geomechanics, and tectonics to exploration and production challenges in the western US, Alaska, the North Sea, South America, Indonesia, Australia, China, south-central Asia, and the Middle East. Dr. Krantz has been an Adjunct Professor of Geoscience at the University of Arizona since 2011, and owns a consulting company, GeoStructure LLC.
Dr. Krantz is a member of the Four Corners Geological Society, the Geological Society of America, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and the American Geophysical Union. He is a certified petroleum geologist and licensed professional geologist.
