My experience teaching students Linguistics includes teaching from my Navajo (Diné) upbringing. This background led me to develop a curriculum of knowledge that embraces Diné epistemologies and pedagogies to study and research Linguistic phenomena that occurs in naturally spoken and signed communities around the world.
My current field of study focuses on Language Documentation, Revitalization, and Preservation. This broad field of study embraces community-based engagement to combat language loss and is a learning objective and outcome I strive to demonstrate to my students in the courses I have taught. I am currently writing my dissertation, “Critical Linguistic Pedagogies and Research.”
