Education symposium brings together students and professionals
In January, the FLC School of Education welcomed teachers and administrators representing more than a dozen public, charter, and private schools in the Four Corners area to the Teacher Networking Symposium.
The annual Symposium provides an opportunity for students in Teacher Education programs to learn about models of schooling unique to this region and what makes them special in the work that they do.
The event also brought together School of Education faculty, representatives from the Colorado Department of Education, and the Colorado Center for Rural Education, and included panel and roundtable discussions, collaborative workshops, and a catered lunch.
“Fort Lewis College's School of Education has many close partnerships with area schools, many of which have unique models of education,” says Visiting Instructor of Teacher Education Rosalind Wright.
“Teacher candidates do many hours of field practicum in area schools, and the Teacher Networking Symposium is one means through which candidates learn more about different models of education offered in the area.”
