FLC hosts showing of alumna’s award-winning documentary
Fort Lewis College alumna Alexandria Bombach (Business Administration, ’08) traveled to Afghanistan to meet and tell the story of Afghan photographers working in that unsettled part of the world. Her documentary, Frame by Frame, will be shown at Fort Lewis College on Wednesday, November 11 at 7 p.m. in the Student Union Vallecito Room. The event is free and open to everyone.
Afghan photographers risked their lives following their passion under Taliban rule, which criminalized photography. After the U.S. intervention in the country forced the Taliban out of power, these photographers emerged from the shadows. Yet the future is uncertain for photography in Afghanistan as unrest continues and the U.S. is drawing down its forces.
Frame by Frame had its world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival earlier this year and was an Official Selection of the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival.
The film showing is sponsored by Fort Lewis College Peace & Conflict Studies. Alexandria will not be attending this showing, but will hopefully return to FLC in the future to speak on her work.
