Fort Lewis College celebrates Homecoming October 7-10

Kicking off Homecoming will be women’s and men’s soccer on Friday at 12:30 and 3 p.m. on Dirks Field. The annual Bonfire will be lit Friday night at 8 p.m. at the FLC Softball Complex, with fireworks following around 8:30 p.m.
Especially for FLC alumni, Friday will offer the Alumni Mug Crawl. Those wishing to participate need to bring their alumni mug to the Durango Welcome Center at 5 p.m. Those who need an alumni mug, or need one for a significant other, can purchase one for $5. The Alumni Mug Crawl is a 21 and over event and ID is required.
The Homecoming Football Game against Western State is at 12 p.m. on Saturday at Dennison Field, preceded by the Homecoming Tailgate Party from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Art Building parking lot. Skyfest will follow the game at 4 p.m. in the Dennison Field parking lot.
On Sunday, Fort Lewis College Athletics hosts the Skyhawk Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at the Strater Hotel at 10 a.m. Volleyball’s Moreen (Baylis) Sawyer will be inducted along with football’s Matt Gutierrez. On Monday, October 10, the inaugural Indigenous People’s Day, formerly Columbus Day, runs all day on campus. Fort Lewis College’s program is called the Real History of the Americas and celebrates the diverse cultures represented among the FLC student body. The day will include speakers, artists, food and more, culminating in the A Tribe Called Red concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College.
