New order from Governor requiring face coverings at work
April 18, 2020
Dear FLC employees,
Governor Polis released an executive order yesterday evening requiring employees of Colorado’s critical businesses to wear a cloth cover* or medical mask over their nose and mouth while at work.
Per this EO, effective immediately and for the next 30 days, FLC personnel reporting to campus for essential or other approved duties should bring their own masks or consult with supervisors to coordinate on needed supplies. Gloves are recommended if an employee needs to have physical contact with customers or goods. Please wear these masks, and if relevant, gloves, when interacting with other employees or the public.
This order supports the state’s efforts to protect public health and continue progress in flattening the curve of positive cases of COVID-19 in Colorado. Thank you to all our employees who are keeping Fort Lewis College strong, and in particular, our essential employees in Physical Plant Services, Police, IT, HR, Housing, Dining, Academic Lab Coordinators, and the Post Office for keeping our campus safe and residents healthy. Please contact your supervisor with any questions or concerns.
Stay safe, Skyhawks!
*Updated guidance August 2020: public health officials have advised against using face coverings such as buffs, neck gaiters, or bandanas as they do not effectively reduce the spread of respiratory droplets. Masks, either multi-layered cloth or surgical, with ear loops or ties and that fit snugly around the chin, mouth, and nose are recommended.
