Spaces shaping tomorrow's workforce

A faculty dream since 1998, Fort Lewis College is proud to open the doors of Schlessman Family Hall, FLC’s new health sciences center. The 42,000-square-foot, nearly $33 million building celebrates state-of-the-art facilities designed for students, faculty, and the greater Four Corners region.

After 25 years of planning and two years of construction, Schlessman Family Hall opened on April 28. The health sciences center is named after Gary Schlessman (Business, '79), whose foundation donated $2 million to the project.

Schlessman Family Hall houses classes for FLC's fastest-growing programs in the Health & Human Performance and Public Health departments.

I always harken back to my grandfather’s philosophy of giving back to the communities that allow us to do what we do now. We live that philosophy with the FLC Foundation, and it’s important to me as an alumnus. This building is amazing; it will be a real game-changer for the community, school, the State, and perhaps even the country.

Gary Schlessman (Business, '79), Vice President, Schlessman Family Foundation

The vision for this state-of-the-art facility to support multiple interdisciplinary health sciences programs began with the inspired vision of FLC faculty. It’s the result of the magic that happens through strong partnerships and collaborations between executive leadership at FLC, state government, and the philanthropic generosity of FLC Foundation donors.
