Her favorite TRIO Talent Search memory was the senior cupcake party, and she said TRIO Talent Search helped her find the right college for her and finding scholarships that matched her strengths and qualities. Her advice for current TRIO Talent Search students is to know the available resources and to take advantage of them.
Estevan Sanchez
Estevan graduated from Durango High School and is currently studying at Fort Lewis College with a major in K-12 education and a minor in Biology. His goals for his time in college are to make friends and to get enough education to follow his dream job. A favorite memory of Estevan’s is the college tours. “When I went on the campus trips it made me realize how cool college could be and what my life could look like.” His advice for current TRIO Talent Search participants is to communicate with your advisor and ask them questions. He says, “I was nervous to ask questions so I had fewer opportunities than if I had asked questions. Once I started, it pushed me forward and it has allowed me to go to college at an affordable price. I almost held off for a year to save up money. Talk with your advisor and actively look for scholarships; it can allow you to do things you thought you could never do.”
Joey Tevault
