Jazz on the Hill presents the Julia Keefe Indigenous Big Band, an electrifying evening celebrating Indigenous voices and artistry in jazz. Bands attending the FLC Jazz Festival can receive discounted tickets for this performance.

Experience a full day of incredible music as middle and high school jazz bands take the stage at the FLC Jazz Festival. The day concludes with a free evening concert, featuring the top student ensembles and a special performance by the FLC Jazz Band alongside Julia Keefe Indigenous Big Band.

Calling all school jazz bands! Sign up to perform at the FLC Jazz Festival and enjoy a day of music, clinics, and fun. Here’s what you need to know:

Fee: $200 per band

Festival schedule

Bands are scheduled every 30 minutes. Your total festival time is 90 minutes, including warm-up, performance, and clinic. Example: Warm-up at 9:00 a.m. → Performance at 9:30 a.m. → Clinic at 10:00 a.m.

  • Warm-up: Warm-ups take place in Jones 253, 30 minutes before your performance.
  • Performance: You’ll have 25 minutes on the Concert Hall stage, including setup and exit time. No sight-reading required, and no scores need to be provided.
  • Clinic: After your performance, enjoy a 25-minute clinic with an adjudicator in Jones 209 – Band Room.

Required forms

Please email the following forms to music@fortlewis.edu no later than one week before the festival:

  • Repertoire List – Pieces your band will perform, including soloists and instruments.
  • Seating Chart – Student names, grades, instruments, and microphone placements.
