Employee tuition waiver
Employee Tuition Waiver
Benefit-eligible employees (working at least 50%) may take up to 9 credit hours per academic year at no cost through the tuition waiver program. Please review the Employee Tuition Waiver Policy before beginning the process. You must also be admitted to Fort Lewis College and meet the application deadlines.
Employee checklist
- Talk to your supervisor & complete the Tuition Waiver Request Form
This is your official waiver request and confirms your eligibility. However, submitting this form alone does not register you for classes. See Step 3 for registration details.
- Apply for Admission
You must reapply for admission if you haven’t taken FLC classes in the past three semesters. Use the fee waiver code: EMPLOYEE when applying online.
Undergraduate courses: You can apply as a non-degree or degree-seeking student depending on your goals. If you are unsure, contact the Admission Office.
Graduate courses: Apply as a non-degree or degree-seeking student. Contact the Graduate Studies Office with questions.
- Submit the Course Addition – Employee Tuition Waiver Form
This form registers you for classes (you may not register yourself). You are not officially registered until the first day of the term. Instructor approval is required. This form collects their signature and notifies them that a non-traditional student is joining the class. Submit the form by this semester's Census Date. Enrollment is contingent on available space and may not displace tuition-paying students, including those on the Native American Tuition Waiver.
Complete Tuition Waiver
- Expect a billing delay
You may temporarily see tuition charges on your account, which is normal. Employee waivers are processed after student billing. For billing questions, contact the Student Billing Office (not the Registrar).
Spouse and Dependent Tuition Waiver
Spouses and dependent children of benefit-eligible employees (working at least 50%) are eligible for a 25% reduction on the student’s share of in-state tuition at Fort Lewis College.
Please review the Tuition Reduction Policy before starting the application process. To receive this benefit, students must be admitted to FLC and meet the regular admission deadlines.
Family member checklist
- Apply for Admission to FLC
To use the benefit, your spouse or dependent must be admitted to Fort Lewis College as a student. Standard admission deadlines apply.
- Complete the Tuition Reduction Application
This application confirms eligibility for the 25% tuition reduction. A new application is required each academic year (July 1 – June 30). Only admitted students may receive this benefit.
Submit a Tuition Reduction Application
- Wait for HR approval.
HR will review and approve the request. You’ll receive a confirmation once the application has been processed.
- Tuition credit applied
After approval, the Accounting Office will post the tuition credit to the student’s account. If you have questions about the billing process, please get in touch with the Student Billing Office.
