The Winter Commencement Address will be offered by Dr. Lee Frazer, assistant professor of Adventure Education and winner of the 2015 FLC Alice Admire Outstanding Teaching Award.

John L. Smith has resigned as head football coach from Fort Lewis College, announced today by Director of Athletics Gary Hunter.  Defensive coordinator Ed Rifilato has been promoted to head coach. Smith has accepted the head coaching position at Kentucky State University (NCAA Division II) in Frankfort, Kentucky.

In addition to the reduction of CO2, FLC has saved nearly 3 million kwh of electricity, over 200,000 ccf of natural gas, and 6.4 million gallons of water.

The White House’s “Champions of Change” award recognizes how one voice really can shape the world. This July, a Fort Lewis College alumna received this honor for being an extraordinary agent of change in the classroom.

Four dozen athletes push their backpacks and water bottles against the wall. Brightly colored cones and bean bags are spread around the wooden gym floor. The goal of the day’s activities are not immediately apparent to an outside observer, but one woman is clearly in charge. On the morning of August 7, Durangoans awoke to a tragic sight: Overnight the Animas River had transformed from mid-summer clear-green into a brilliant golden ribbon threaded through downtown.

Durango is a long way to have come from Africa. But for Farai Taziwa, it's not nearly as far as his whole world has come. Taziwa, a Zimbabwe native, has accumulated many achievements during his time at Fort Lewis College, from earning his bachelor's degree in Engineering in just three and a half years, to landing his first job during his last semester.
