Yes! In the housing application, under the “Roommate Groups” page, you can search for roommates by their last name, student ID, or their screen name. You can also get roommate suggestions based on similar responses to the Roommate Matching & Lifestyle questions in the housing application. 

When you send a roommate request to another student, they will have 14 days to accept the request in their housing application. 

First-year students: Once your roommate group is set, the Student Housing Office will prioritize placing you with your requested roommate based on the rooms available.

Continuing students: Students who applied by the March deadline to participate in room selection can have other members of their roommate group reserve a room for them in the housing portal. We recommend that the member with the earliest time slot reserve a room for the rest of the roommate group during their room selection time. Students who applied after the March room selection will have their housing assignment booked by the Student Housing Office, prioritizing requested roommates where space is available.

Continuing students can create a roommate group with incoming first year and transfer students in the housing application. This would allow you to select a room for you and the incoming student during room selection. If you are applying after the March room selection, please contact the Student Housing Office to discuss placement options.

Note: First-year students are not eligible for rooms in Animas Hall, Mears, or Centennial.

We currently offer over 80 beds designated as gender-inclusive housing in the traditional halls as well as select double and single suites and apartments. As demand increases, we update more rooms to accommodate students without gender restrictions. Learn more about gender-inclusive housing.

Continuing students with specific accommodations or medical needs may request exceptions through the Accessibility Resource Center. Student Housing will work with students with approved accommodations to secure a placement that fits their needs.

First-year students: You'll receive an email in mid-May when your housing assignment is finalized.  You can view your assignment details on the homepage of the Student Housing Portal. A second round of housing assignments will be sent mid-June and a third round in mid-July. Applications received starting in late July will receive a placement in August.

Continuing students: Students who apply by the March 11 deadline will self-select their room in mid-March. Later applicants will be placed by Student Housing based on application date and room preferences listed in the application. Placements will be sent out in mid-May and June based on availability.
