Advising at Fort Lewis College supports you throughout your academic career. This page explains how advising works for Katz School of Business students and where to go for next steps.

Students with fewer than 60 credits

Katz students who have earned fewer than 60 credits are advised by Skyhawk Station or Athletics.

Students with 60 or more credits

Once you earn 60 credits, you will be assigned a Katz faculty advisor. Your faculty advisor will help you:

• Plan remaining coursework
• Stay on track for graduation
• Explore internships and career goals
• Navigate major-specific questions

You can find your assigned advisor in the Student Resource Center. If you are unsure who your advisor is, contact the Katz office for assistance.

Common advising questions

• Need to change your major? Submit the Program Change Form.
• Trying to register or resolve a hold? Review the Registration Checklist.
• Need a prerequisite or class standing override? Visit the registration page to submit an override request.
• Requesting a graduation exception? Review the graduation exception process.
• Missing transfer credit or a waived requirement? Review the transfer credit process.

Katz-specific processes

Internships for academic credit

To earn course credit for an internship, you must:

• Have earned at least 80 credits
• Have a 3.0 major GPA
• Have a 2.5 cumulative GPA
• Secure a position totaling at least 150 hours within a term
• Have a supervisor willing to approve your experience

If you have secured a faculty member willing to supervise your independent study, follow the Independent Study process through Skyhawk Station advising.
